Sail Sydney will be the pre-race event for the 2019 International Mirror Dinghy World Championships, to be held on Sydney Harbour from December 31 to January 6.
The President of the International Mirror Dinghy Class Association in Australia, Douglas Raftesath, was delighted with the announcement to include Mirrors on the Sail Sydney program and says it will be a great event for local competitors to prepare for the Worlds.
“With both the Worlds and Sail Sydney being held at the same venue, this will provide the perfect opportunity to tune up prior to the International Mirror Dinghy National Championships / Pre Worlds which start on December 27 and goes until December 30 and, of course, the Worlds themselves.” he said.

Raftesath said Sail Sydney will be a highly competitive Mirror regatta with the reigning Mirror Dinghy World Champion likely to be competing and setting the standard.
“We anticipate the event will be well attended by Mirror sailors especially from NSW, including the reigning World Champion from Balmoral Sailing Club, Cullen Hughes, and his son. “ Raftesath said.
Last Year, Sail Sydney welcomed over 300 competitors, including many members of the Australian Sailing Team competing in the Olympic classes. With the addition of mirrors and the inclusion of the National Nacra17 Championships, the event is expected to reach another record of entrants.
